How ‘Bout Them Apple Cider Cocktails

On Sunday, September 23, No. 246 in Decatur will welcome Indian summer and autumn’s bounty of apples with a “How ‘Bout Them Apples?” festival from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the restaurant’s backyard.  Decatur neighbors Leon’s Full Service and Brick Store Pub will also join in the celebration.
Chef Drew Belline of No. 246 will be roasting a whole pig, and Chef Eric Ottensmeyer of Leon’s Full Service will be preparing the side dishes, including grilled radicchio, apple slaw and roasted potatoes. Charcuterist and butcher Colin Miles, also of Leon's, is making apple hot dogs. For dessert, Belline will have a display of apple sweets such as caramel apples, apple upside down cake, apple-powdered kettle corn and apple candies.
No. 246 Beverage Director Lara Creasy is planning a cider punch with fresh pressed cider, Italian brandy, vermouth di Torino and spices, while Leon’s will feature another apple-based cocktail.  Guests 21 years of age and older can participate in a cider tasting featuring six ciders total, two per participating restaurant (No. 246, Leon’s Full Service and Brick Store Pub). Fresh pressed cider made from North Georgia apples will also be available for guests.
The festivities will include an apple education table featuring Georgia farmers featuring their different apple varieties, along with activities such as bobbing for apples, face painting and balloon animals for children.  
Tickets cost $35 per person ($10 for children age 12 and under)and include food and cider tasting.  Tickets to the apple festival can be purchased at No. 246. Additional alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase at No. 246, Leon’s Full Service and Brick Store Pub.
Reservations are recommended as space is limited; call 678-399-8246 to reserve a spot. No. 246 is located at 129 E. Ponce de Leon Avenue in Decatur. The restaurant serves lunch daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dinner is served Monday to Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. and on Sunday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. For more information, visit
