Review: Smyrna Wine Cellars

(770) 437-1735
1295 West Spring Street
Smyrna, GA 30080
Monday-Saturday 10AM-9PM

I first met Renee Rowe when Tim and I started going to Atkins Park for lunch several years ago.  While walking around the quaint little plaza at Smyrna Market Village we stumbled upon The Wine Cellar store and decided to go in.

Renee Rowe, owner The Wine Cellars, Inc
Renee and her store were recently featured in the COBB News and Views May-June 2011 edition for Smyrna/Vinings.

Wine Cellars Store
The store was very warm and inviting.  It was a great and relaxing atmosphere.  Very friendly.  Always asking how were we were doing and if we needed anything!

Their website has attracted international attention, as many people buy accessories online.

Below is a list of weekly events at her store!
$2 Tapas Tuesdays: Selections of small plates for only $2.00!  You can enjoy a glass of wine from her menu of over 50 wine selections!  5pm-9pm

The Thursday Trio: Featuring your choice of a wine flight trio.  Choose any 3 wines from her menu for only $12.99 (half glass) Noon-9pm

Friday Night Flights: Featuring your choice of a whine flight of four wine.  Choose any 4 wines from her menu from only $19.99 (half glass) Noon-9pm

Tim at a Saturday Wine Tasting May 14, 2010
**Saturday Wine Tastings: Stop by and sample several different wines in the shop.  New selections every Saturday.  2pm-4pm.  Cheese, crackers and fruit also served!  This is a must!

Tim and I recommend the Saturday Wine Tastings!  It is a great way to sample several wines and pick and choose the ones you like and dislike.  All the wines you sample are in the store for purchase!  A great experience for a beginning wine enthusiast!

What we like most is that Renee Rowe gives back to the community.  We are participating for the first time The 6th Annual Smyrna Wine Stroll on Saturday May 21, 2011.
100% of all proceeds benefit a local charity!

Summer Reds-Summer Whites

Tim and I just had a wine tasting at the Smyrna Wine Cellars store at Smyrna Market Village.
Phone: 770 437-1753

Below is a listing of the 3 Whites and 3 Reds that we tasted.  **-denotes our favorite!

WHITES:

Colli Argento Pinot Grigio: We found this to be very light...so if you like a true "light" white wine--we recommend this one!  Notes of Pear, Melon and Green Apple - Food Pairing: Seafood Entrees

Remy Pannier Pouilly Fume: Not one of my favorites, but if you like notes of Very Grassy, simple, lots of acidity--this is your choice! - Food Pairing: Seafood, Salad, Pork & Chicken, along with vegetarian dishes

Our Favorite Summer White
**Robert Stemmler Chardonnay: Both of our favorite white wine of the three tasted!  Had an Earthy tangerine, pineapple and nectarine flavor! - Food Pairing: Roasted Chicken and Grilled Fish

REDS:

The Pinot Project: Another very "light" Pinot.  Hints of Black Cherries, Oak and Asian Spice - Food Pairing: Versatile host of food dishes!

Coldstream Hills Pinot Noir: An everyday Pinot!  I could have this any day of the week!  Notes of Cherry, Strawberry and blueberry.  Vibrant fruit flavor! Food Pairing: Fresh Salmon Dishes!

A Wonderful Dessert Red
**Cuvelier Los Andes Coleccion Malbec Blend: Our favorite!  Buy a bottle for a special evening! Very ripe aromas!  Crushed berries, mocha and dark chocolate.  Has an impressive breadth of the flavors of currant, mocha, leather and chocolate.  A true knockout!  Well recommended from Tim and I!  Food Pairing:  Fruits, Chocolate cakes and other desserts!
